Preparing the atelier

The VANVORSH atelier

Made slowly, in Accra

The house

VANVORSH was founded on a single idea: that a garment should hold its line without asking for attention. The house works in a narrow palette and a narrow set of shapes, refining them season after season rather than replacing them.

The designer

Trained in tailoring and pattern cutting, VANVORSH works from a small studio in Accra with a team of six. She cuts the first sample of every style herself.

Philosophy

Less, but better made. Volume before decoration. A hem that falls correctly is worth more than any embellishment.

Craftsmanship

Every coat is hand-finished. A single tailored piece takes up to eleven days from first cut to final press, and each one is inspected twice before it leaves the atelier.

Materials

Virgin wool, double-faced cashmere, silk georgette and alpaca, sourced from mills with long-standing relationships to the house.

Responsibility

Production is made to order wherever possible. Offcuts are returned to the atelier and reworked into smaller pieces. Nothing is destroyed.
